MISSION:

In communities across the country, the Pflag Canada network provides peer support, education, and advocacy for a Canada that affirms, respects and values all sexualities, genders, and gender expressions.

As volunteers, we are committed to building inclusive and safer spaces for all 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals in Halton Region.

Our programs and services are grounded in peer support perspectives and practices.

The charitable organization serves the following population:

Pflag Halton is a volunteer-run organization that serves the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and their friends, family, and loved ones in Halton. Established in 2019, our local chapter is committed to building safer spaces for queer and trans folks across Halton region.

Peer support means working with peers who are trained to help you by utilizing their own lived experiences.

The donated funds would be used for:

Any donations/funding we receive would be primarily directed to supporting our programming but specifically with a focus on developing additional youth programs and supports as the organization in Halton that provided support to 2SLGBTQIA+ youth is no longer active. This is a major service gap in Halton Region right now.

GENERAL PEER SUPPORT

Open to the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community and to parents, partners, caregivers, friends, and family who are looking for support and resources.

GLOWING PAINS

Glowing Pains references the struggles that we all encounter as we explore and express our true selves, but also describes how wonderful it is to live those truths.

PARENTS & CAREGIVERS

Two distinct peer support groups available to parents and caregivers of 2SLGBTQIA+ kids

After all guaranteed funding is counted there is a short fall of $9,543 needed to sponsor each of the families per year that must be attained through donations and fundraising efforts.

Individuals and organizations that donate the $9,543 become partners in change and become part of the family’s journey – receiving updates from the parent of the family they sponsor via letter or email.
