10 years of giving back to our communities!
Charity of Choice: Autism Dog Services
Donations: $ 11,650
MISSION:
Our mission is to foster the integration of children and youth with autism other related developmental disorders by training, placing, and supporting service dogs that offer safety, companionship, and independence. A service dog grants opportunities for these youth to safely participate in school and community activities, provides a companion for those less likely to have community friends, and keeps them safe from harm, and injury.
The benefits of a service dog include improved sleep patterns, greater family unity, reduced parental stress, increased socialization and increased communication.
The Organization serves the following population:
We serve from Niagara region to Toronto region (including Halton region) as well as the Guelph/Cambridge/Waterloo/Kitchener area. The mission of our organization is to foster the integration of children and youth (ages 3 to 18 years old) with autism by training, placing, and supporting service dogs that offer safety, companionship, and independence.
The donated funds would be used for:
- Provide volunteer puppy raisers with staff instructions and support to successfully raise and socialize puppies so that they can develop into future service dogs.
- Provide professional service dog training by staff instructors.
- Advanced training oversees group and individual training and socialization of puppies as they progress through the program to become service dogs.
Each service dog (given for free to families with children with autism) carries a value of $25,000. Funding from your organization will assist us to increase the number of puppies in the ADS training program to meet the needs of this at-risk population and work through our waiting list.
