MISSION

Our purpose is to provide men & women who are struggling with the resources, services and support to help them become healthier in mind, body and spirit.

The charitable organization serves the following population:

Capillary Wave Community serves adult men and women who are experiencing mental health challenges, emotional isolation, life transitions, trauma, relationship breakdown, and stress related to work, family, or identity. Our primary focus has been on men who are underserved by traditional mental health systems, including those who are reluctant or unable to access therapy due to stigma, cost, waitlists, or cultural barriers. We began as a mental health support for men and due to the feedback we were receiving, in June of 2025 we created Capillary Wave Community for Women. Using the same blueprint in growing the men’s side has allowed us to already have over 150 women registered in the first 5 months. In 2026, we aim to expand our work by launching Capillary Wave Community for Young Adults (18–25). This population is currently underserved in our community at a pivotal stage of development, when mental health support and connection can have lifelong impact.

How does this charity serve Burlington/Halton directly:

  • Capillary Wave Community serves Burlington and Halton by bringing men and women together locally and in person for free mental health support. Our weekly groups are held in the community and are made up of men who live and work in Burlington, Oakville, Milton, Halton Hills and beyond. We create a safe, welcoming space where men and women can talk honestly, feel less alone, and build real connections. Many of the men who attend wouldn’t otherwise reach out for help due to cost, long wait times, or stigma, so having something local and accessible makes a real difference. Capillary Wave Community is helping men and women in Burlington and Halton feel less alone and more supported during difficult times in their lives. Our impact shows up in men returning week after week, opening up for the first time, and building friendships and support networks that extend beyond our meetings. By offering consistent, local, in-person support, we are filling a gap for men and women who are struggling but not in crisis, and who might otherwise slip through the cracks. Many participants share that being part of Capillary has helped them manage stress, improve relationships, and feel more grounded in their daily lives. At a community level, our work contributes to healthier families, workplaces, and social circles by supporting men before challenges escalate. The impact is quiet but meaningful — fewer isolated men, stronger connections, and a growing culture of openness around men’s mental health in Halton.

The donated funds would be used for

A donation from 100+ Women Who Care Burlington would be used to directly support and grow our local, in-person men’s and women’s mental health programs. Funds would help cover space rental, facilitator support, and basic operating costs that allow us to continue offering weekly support groups at very low to no cost, to participants. Donations would also help us deliver practical, skills-based workshops that respond to real challenges men and women in our community are facing. These include sessions such as Navigating Divorce and Child Transitions, Adult ADHD Toolkit, Dads Do It Different, Mastering Emotions, and other topic-specific workshops focused on relationships, parenting, emotional regulation, and life transitions. In addition, funding supports outreach and awareness efforts so more local men and women know these supports exist. All funds stay within Burlington and Halton and are reinvested directly into programs that strengthen individual well-being, families, and the wider community.

The Organization’s current sources of funding are:

Capillary Wave Community’s current funding comes from a mix of local, community-focused sources, including: Individual donations from community members and supporters Small grants awarded by local and regional granting bodies (e.g., the Department of Justice Canada grant received for Victims and Survivors of Crime Week) Fundraisers and events hosted in the community (e.g., Laughing Heals comedy fundraiser) In-kind support and partnerships with local businesses and venues that provide space, resources, or promotional support Occasional sponsorships from community partners committed to supporting men’s health and well-being Even though we started in January 2024, Capillary Wave Community didn’t become a charity until the end of the same year. 2025 was our first full year and as of today we have just over 300 men and 150 women who have registered. Unfortunately, being so new, we didn’t qualify for the larger multi-year grants even though our numbers are so good and we have a great story to tell. In the overall landscape of funding, there is very little specifically designed for men.

Comments: To clarify, as a charity, we are registered as Capillary Wave Community for Men. Our goal is to grow the women’s side into their own separate charity. This distinction will help us with securing specific grants once we qualify to apply.
